What a lovely spot! We nearly missed this breakfast nook, so I feel very lucky to have chanced upon it. We were immediately seated and served big, beautiful cups of coffee (perhaps a french press?). I had the Chorizo gravy and biscuits, and was very pleased with portion, pricing, and most of all, the flavor. I will definitely try to replicate this dish (albeit poorly) in my own home. The whole menu was innovative yet classic, narrow but with options for all. I would definitely recommend it to those who feel breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and are willing to take a little time to really enjoy it.
MoreFrenchies probably has one of my most favorite breakfasts ever. The Egyptian Beans and an egg.... mouthwatering delicious! Seasoned just so with a fresh pop of tomato and feta. I dream of this in my sleep.
MoreGreat little place. Super nice people and great food. Had the gyro and pastrami sandwich. Great breads, perfectly cooked, fresh toppings. Loved it.
MoreGreat place for breakfast, best coffee any where!
Wonderful food, a must-try. I got the Egyptian breakfast beans, my husband got the pastromelette. Everything was wonderful. I would have loved to check out the inside or back patio of the restaurant, but due to covid, we had to take our order to go. The restaurant is a stone's throw from the shore, so we enjoyed our food on a picnic table by the bay!
MoreHad the gyro omelet and it was delicious! The coffee was fresh and the atmosphere welcoming. The staff was very kind, will definitely be coming back.
MoreTheir breakfast was very good. The coffee was so good per my coffee drinkers. Only 12 guest can eat at a time. If you are lucky enough it is delicious and worth it.
MoreJust had my first pastrami sandwich at Frenchie's Famous. I'm not sure how famous he is, but the food was FABULOUS. Maybe not textbook meat like Katz's in NYC, but ridiculously good. More of a corned beef on steroids, or a Montreal smoked meat sort of feel. Well worth the detour while passing through. Try it!
MoreDelicious, oh man I love this place. Always something different to try, fancy breakfasts, great coffee. It's a family tradition to visit this place every time we come to traverse City. It's tiny inside, only enough seating for 10 or 15 people tops. But the service is great, and the food is tasty. We'll be back!
MoreLittle out of the way place that will make you feel comfortable right away. What they don't spend on fancy furnishings they spend on wonderful customer service and delicious food. It looks like their signature is pastrami and they got it right. We sat outside today and throughly enjoyed the garden on the patio. It's no wonder this is a highly recommended spot. One that the fudgies haven't heard about yet 👍
MoreI spent many years in the restaurant industry working as executive chef at numerous hotels & restaurants. This place is funky cool whether sitting inside drinking french pressed coffee of a cold snowy day, or chilling out on the patio sipping a cold beverage and waiting on a pastrami sandwich. Now everything on the menu is wonderful...but the pastrami is to die for, hands down best ANYWHERE. Don't get there too late in the day...because when it gone...its gone!
MoreA little hole in the wall in TC. The food is so amazing! The biscuits are absolutely to die for, I try to get the recipe every time I go but it’s a secret 🤫 I love sitting outside during the warm months, just to smell the hop plants surrounding their patio.
MoreLoved it, but we got there around lunchtime on a Saturday and they were out of a lot of the dishes we were interested in! It's popular for a reason.
MoreFrenchies was first pointed out to me and my wife by a local a few years ago. It is a small building with only about 4 or 5 tables, but it is amazing. The menu has lots of italian and spanish influence, as well as a nice section on different coffee types. The last time we were there, "Frenchie" was cooking and came to our table to make sure we were happy, and that we enjoyed everything. That goes a long way with me.
MoreA tight, cozy, cute, coffee shop with some great lunch options. One of the secret gems of Traverse City. I had to wait outside to be seated, which was a little chilly.
MoreWe were visiting Traverse City on July 5, 2020 & googled a place to have breakfast with outdoor dining& Frenchie popped up with a good review. We got there early & went back to check the outdoors seating. A man came out & started yelling that it was not self seating. We went to the window & asked if their patio was open because that is why we picked the place. When we asked, the “same” man rudely said “NO”. When we told him his website said they had outdoor dining, he rudely said the website was “SHIT””. We went out of our way & spend time to meet friends there. Needless to say, we would not stay so we can not comment on the food but we can say the the place was a DUMP & the man was rude to all of us. I would not recommend this dump to anyone.
MoreThis is the best place. Had a fabulous lunch with great service. Such a cozy and comfortable atmosphere to be in as well. The food is out of this world. Highly recommend!!!
MoreVery much a "hole in the wall", but worth the cram into the tiny dining area. The food was fantastic (I got the pastrami with slaw), and the people are great! The decor is very intriguing as well! Oh, and their dirty chai is absolutely on point
MoreWhile I've only been twice, during my visits to Traverse City, this small bistro is a true gem to the area! Freshly made brunch items, including my favorite - the biscuits and gravy - are a favorite to anyone in the know.
MoreWhere to start with this place. Amazing! The biscuits are heaven. The breakfast is cooked to perfection. The owners are friendly and show warm hospitality. Come early because it is a small cozy place.
MoreAmazing food! Quality over quantity. Quaint outdoor seating area. Highly recommend!
MoreGood food or not, the man at the ordering window was extremely rude and snappy to our entire group. He yelled at me and got visibly angry when he gave me the incorrect order. Then when we went back to pick up our food, he yelled at us again. Will never be back here.
MoreA unique breakfast, lunch, & weekend brunch restaurant. Food is excellent & the atmosphere really is charming - it isn't like anywhere else in TC! Definitely worth a stop. My advice: order the crepe!!
MoreBeen craving these biscuits and gravy for 2 years! Love this place!
Very unassuming place however, the quality of the breakfast here is outstanding. Great backyard patio with Blues background music. Highly recommended.
MoreHeard great things, but I was underwhelmed. French toast was soggy :( and overall just not my type of place. Unique menu. Very cramped seating and uncomfortable because you are literally on top of the people sitting next to you. Server was friendly for the most part.
MoreWhat’s great about this place? Everything! The coffee, the service, the food ♥️! So lucky to have a place like Frenchies in TC!
MoreA fantastic hole in the wall in TC. Seating is limited, if you can get a table at lunch the pastrami is remarkable. Breakfast is also not to be missed. Service is a fantastic blend of surly and sweet.
MoreMy sister told me about this place. She told me don't look at the outside it doesn't look like much but the food is amazing. I went with my husband and son and we all three said it was one of the best sandwiches we have ever had. It's very small inside and because everything is made fresh when it runs out it's out. Will definitely be going back there again.
MoreYou have to try the biscuits and chorizo gravy! Super convenient to call in advance, and pick up at the window. Be patient if not, because there was only one person inside when I popped by for pickup. Well worth the wait. The patio is temporarily closed due to COVID. Bring a towel or blanket and eat by the water right across Munson.
MoreI'm not sure how to express how much I love this place. It's extremely small, where you're going to get cozy with everyone else in the place, but everyone is extremely friendly, and that says nothing for the food and coffee.I had the breakfast sandwich with salmon and dill cream, which was just perfect, and a wonderful chai. They have a lot of options for coffee, and some great unique food options.I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm in the area.
MoreSome of the best food in Northern Michigan. The coffee is fantastic. The pastrami sandwich is incredible. It is off the beaten path but an absolute gem in the Cherry Capital.
MoreGreat food. Very nice people.
One of a kind place! The service from the waiters is extremely friendly. Despite the reviews of the owner having a mood sometimes, after a while you learn to laugh at it and not take it personally. Not all places have to greet you with a fake smile, y'know? Awesome music as well. Nothing better than playing your odds on a Sunday morning and going to Frenchies and seeing if they have a table for you 👍🏼
MoreQuaint little place with a small but tasty menu. Breakfast and lunch options and fresh ground coffee. The gyro was fresh and tasty and the soup with fresh gruyere cheese on top really sold me. Highly recommend if looking for a new place to try in TC.
MoreWorst seating imaginable. It gives me massive anxiety to eat in this restaurant because of the close quarters. So that being said, I would still give their classic pastrami 6 stars if I could. I cannot remember the last time I passed through TC without stopping here.Go eat here. You can thank me later.
MoreLove how the food was made to taste. Small portions but quite valuable. Will come back to try other dishes on the menu. Like the dirty chai! But didn't really like the lemonade though.
MoreGot takeout for breakfast, extremely delicious, will definitely be back!
Great little joint. Be patient, it's just one cook and if they are busy it might take a little while but the wait is completely worth it. The food is perfect, the pulled pork taco is a must-have. The pastrami is amazing. There really isn't a thing on the menu that isn't damn good.
MoreMan talking our order was very rude. Probably just eat at home next time when considering coming here.
